What to Expect
SUNDAY MORNINGS
Spiritual Formation Classe- 9:30 AM
On Sunday mornings, we have Spiritual Formation classes for all age groups starting at 9:30 AM. We seek to nurture thinking minds and compassionate hearts for the kingdom of God.
Worship Service - 10:45 AM
Our primary service of worship begins at 10:45 every Sunday morning. Worship at Immanuel may be described as "traditional" with a "warm" formality. We seek to remain faithful to the streams of the Christian tradition and our Baptist heritage that have shaped us as a community of faith. In our services, we seek to create an atmosphere in which people encounter the presence and power of the Living God and are invited to seek the joyful and abundant life that is found only through following the narrow way that leads to life.
Worship Style
At Immanuel Baptist Church, worship is at the heart of our life together. Each Sunday morning, we gather for a morning worship service shaped by Scripture, prayer, music, and meaningful liturgy.
We often follow the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year cycle of Scripture readings shared by many Christian denominations. The lectionary helps guide our journey through the seasons of the Church year and ensures that our life of worship is rooted in the breadth and depth of the Bible.
We believe worship is a communal act, and all are welcome to join us just as they are. Whether you come with deep faith, hopeful questions, or simply a desire to belong, there is space for you at Immanuel.
OTHER GENERAL INFORMATION
Parking
Our primary parking area is behind our church building off Sycamore Drive. You may also park on Buckner Lane in front of the church and along Sycamore Drive. There are entrances from each of these parking areas.
What To Wear
There is no dress code at Immanuel, and we hope you will come in whatever manner of dress is comfortable for you. Some people wear traditional Sunday dress - suit and tie or sport coats for men, and dresses, skirt and blouse, or slacks and shirt for women. Other people dress more casually - what some folks may call business casual. Our children and youth sometimes dress up for church, but they are often in the same clothes they would wear to school.
Activities for Children and Youth
Immanuel pursues excellence in our ministry to children and youth. Christina Crice serves as our Children’s Pastor. Christina is assisted by a small staff and a large number of volunteers. Tim Franklin serves as our Youth Pastor. Tim is assisted by volunteers.
Beyond the many opportunities for Bible study, music education, and social interaction, we seek to nurture a mission consciousness among our children and youth. We send them out to do missions in our city and beyond.
Activities for Senior Adults
There are a variety of activities for senior adults for Immanuel. Sunday School classes assist in forming relationships in small groups. From gentle exercises on Tuesday mornings to out of town trips in the spring and fall, there are many opportunities of fellowship and service for seniors.
Immanuel Preschool
The Immanuel Preschool is a ministry of Immanuel. Melinda Vassuer is the Director and Casey Slack is the Assistant Director. The Preschool offers classes for children age two to pre-kindergarten. Immanuel Preschool is a structured half-day program.
Affiliations
Immanuel is affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Baptist World Alliance.
